Knicks Fight Back Late to Beat Spurs and Take NBA Finals Lead

The New York Knicks made a strong start to the NBA Finals after coming from behind to beat the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 in Game 1 on Wednesday night.

The Spurs looked in control for much of the game and even built a 14-point lead during the third quarter. Playing in front of their home fans, San Antonio seemed ready to take the opening game of the series.

But the Knicks refused to give up.

Led by star guard Jalen Brunson, New York slowly worked their way back into the contest. Brunson delivered another impressive playoff performance, finishing with 30 points and scoring several crucial baskets in the final quarter. His leadership helped the Knicks turn the game around when it mattered most.

The visitors tightened their defense and forced the Spurs into mistakes during the closing minutes. San Antonio struggled offensively late in the game missing important shots and committing costly turnovers as New York took control.

OG Anunoby also played an important role for the Knicks adding 17 points while Karl-Anthony Towns contributed at both ends of the floor. The Knicks showed great teamwork and composure during their comeback effort.

For the Spurs Victor Wembanyama finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. The young star had several impressive moments but found it difficult to maintain efficiency against New York’s defense. San Antonio’s late-game struggles eventually allowed the Knicks to pull away.

The game was tied entering the final stages before New York produced a decisive run to secure the victory. The Knicks were especially sharp in the fourth quarter, protecting the ball well and making key plays on both ends of the court.

This win gives the Knicks a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals and moves them three victories away from their first NBA championship since 1973. It also continues their remarkable playoff form with the team showing confidence and resilience throughout the postseason.

The Spurs will be hoping to respond in Game 2 before the NBA Finals move to New York. With plenty of talent on both teams and the series still in its early stages fans can expect more exciting and competitive basketball in the games ahead.
