Angry Fans Throw Chairs and Bottles at Messi Event in India

What was supposed to be a joyful celebration of football legend Lionel Messi turned chaotic at a stadium in India after fans became angry and disappointed.
Thousands of supporters gathered with high hopes of seeing Messi up close. Many had waited for hours and paid a large amount for tickets. However, the excitement quickly faded when Messi appeared only briefly and left the field within a short time.
Large sections of the crowd could not see him properly. Fans felt ignored and misled, especially as VIP guests were given priority access. As frustration grew, some people began throwing plastic bottles and chairs inside the stadium. A few temporary structures were damaged, and the atmosphere became tense.
Security forces stepped in to control the situation and prevent further trouble. Messi was safely escorted away as police worked to calm the crowd and restore order.
Many fans later expressed their anger, saying the event was poorly managed. They claimed the organisers failed to control the crowd and did not deliver what was promised. Some supporters said they travelled long distances just to catch a glimpse of their football hero.
Local authorities later apologised for the incident and said they would investigate what went wrong during the event.
While Messi’s visit to India continues in other cities, the Kolkata event left many fans disappointed, turning what should have been a memorable day into an upsetting experience.
